These are the last surprises you embedded in my iCloud throughout one of my most chaotic weeks of the semester.
In the first picture, we were holding our routine morning date while you were getting ready for work at home, while I was waiting for my day to begin at school. Briefly before leaving for work, you dropped me a hint that you buried a few surprises here and there for me throughout my iCloud. If it weren’t for your clue, I would’ve spent all day hunting for those surprises throughout my countless accounts. I was all too excited to wait till the end of the day, so you chuckled and told me that I could go ahead and search for them as you brushed your teeth. Without hesitation, I got down to business! It didn’t take me long since only so many apps sync on iCloud, and what I stumbled upon were pictures two and three as well. It was then that you explained to me that when I took on an early bedtime the previous night, you got bored and had a little fun before heading to bed too. This is the best surprise I’ve ever received from a bad case of boredom.
In the fourth picture, I was sitting on a concrete bench next to my group members from my poetry of witness class. We were putting the finishing touches to our presentation when I heard a notification from my iPad. I never set up a notification of my own with an alarm sounding off, so this startled me a bit. I checked what it possibly could come from, and these words popped out: best, love, and baby. I knew that you were tied up at work that day; so I wasn’t expecting to hear from you so soon, and you had already wished me good luck on my exam earlier that morning. Now you know that it’s rare to make my face turn red, but I was flushed right then and there. I couldn’t contain how happy that made me within just a snap of a finger. My classmates laughed at me and asked what was so funny about the project. I shook my head and simply told them that I have the best boyfriend that’s all, all with the widest grin spread across my face. I wish you could’ve seen me; I wish you could’ve seen my reaction.
Oh glorious apostle St. Jude, faithful servant and friend of Jesus, the name of the traitor who delivered thy beloved Master into the hands of His enemies has caused thee to be forgotten by many, but the Church honors and invokes thee universally as the patron of hopeless cases—of things despaired of. Pray for me who am so miserable; make use, I implore thee, of that particular privilege accorded thee of bringing visible and speedy help where help is almost despaired of. Come to my assistance in this great need, that I may receive the consolations and succor of heaven in all my necessities, tribulations and sufferings, particularly (mention your request), and that I may bless God with thee and all the elect throughout eternity. I promise thee, O blessed St. Jude, to be ever mindful of this great favor, and I will never cease to honor thee as my special and powerful patron, and to do all in my power to encourage devotion to thee. Amen
In French, you don’t really say “I miss you.” You say “tu me manques,” which is closer to “you are missing from me.” I love that. “You are missing from me.” You are a part of me, you are essential to my being. You are like a limb, or an organ, or blood. I cannot function without you.
